Recent Hyatt Regency Austin Review: "The higher price I paid here was worth every penny. Wonderful location on the river, a stone's throw from the "bat bridge," walking distance to the 6th Street music scene, and the Capitol building looms ahead on a straight line up the street once you reach the bridge. Service was exquisite; everyone was friendly and helpful and unrushed, with none of the fake, seemingly factory-trained "be nice and smile widely to the guests" feeling you often get in the service industry. The breakfast buffet (cost included in room rate) was top-notch, nice pool, one of the better hotel gyms I've encountered. Only minor complaint: I was surprised at the lack of lighting between the dirt path that fronts the hotel next to the river and the bat bridge. When I went out at night, it was mighty dark and desserted in that approximately 200-yard span between the hotel and the bridge, with enough bushes to easily to hide someone with bad motives. Upon my return after midnight, I opted to go around the long way off the bridge to the front of the hotel, where good lighting and some traffic made it seem a lot more secure. It left me wondering why the Hyatt couldn't spring for some lighting along the footpath to the bridge...All in all though, this was a great spot where I'd stay again in a heartbeat (though preferably in a cooler time of year than late July)."

For a closer look at the scenery, the hotel rents mountain bikes for a ride on the 9-mile Town Lake Trail, located outside the back of the hotel. Both adult's and children's bikes are available.
